Federal skilled worker program

Federal Skilled Worker Program

This program is for applicants who have skilled work experience. Applicants must have Education Credential Assessment (ECA) and an accepted language test. Contact us for assistance in obtaining these required components.

Skilled work includes:

· Managerial jobs (skill type 0)
· Professional jobs (skill level A)
· Technical jobs and skilled trades (skill level B)

Job titles and descriptions are based on the National Occupation Code which can be found here.

Applicants are assessed on a 100 point base grid. You need 67 points to qualify for the program.

The selection factors:

· Age: Maximum of 12  (18-35 years old, points decrease as applicant’s age goes up)

· Education: Maximum of 25 points.

· Work experience: Maximum of 15 points. Maximum points can be achieved with 6 years or more of full-time work in the past 10 years. Full-time is defined as 30 hours per week or more.

· Valid job offers (arranged employment in Canada): Maximum of 10 points. If you have at least a 1-year job offer from a Canadian Employer

· English and/or French language skills: Maximum of 28 points.                                Applicants receive up to 24 points for the first official language and an additional 4 for the second official language. Points are based on results from an approved language test for this. More details can be found here.

· Adaptability: Maximum of 10 points.

An applicant who has worked or studied in Canada has a relative in Canada or has a spouse with basic proficiency in English or French will receive additional points.

Proof of funds
If you do not have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, you must prove that you have enough money to support yourself or your family while looking for work. Low-income cut-off (LICO) amounts are set by the Government of Canada and are updated regularly.
