What is Saskatchewan Farm Owner and Operator Application?

Saskatchewan Farm Owner and Operator Application is temporary measure to boost local and farm business in Saskatchewan.

This stream is designed to target experienced farm owners and operators who wish to own and operate a farm in Saskatchewan.

It is part of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program. Successful farmers who apply through this program will be nominated for permanent resident status. This program requires a highly individualized application based on the type of farm a person is proposing to launch in Saskatchewan.

Applicants that meet minimum eligibility criteria under the farm category are able to submit their application prior to completing the mandatory exploratory visit, with final approvals requiring the successful completion of the mandatory visit when travel restrictions have been lifted. Are you Qualified?

you do not qualify for Nomination Requirements if:

  • You do not meet one or more of the requirement(s)
  • You or a dependent family member (accompanying you or not) has a serious medical condition.
  • You or a dependent family member over the age of 18 (accompanying you or not) has a criminal record.
  • You have unresolved custody or child support disputes affecting any member of your family.
  • You have intentionally committed misrepresentation or fraud in your application.

Applicants that meet minimum eligibility criteria under the farm category are able to submit their application prior to completing the mandatory exploratory visit, with final approvals requiring the successful completion of the mandatory visit when travel restrictions have been lifted.

Farm Owners and Operators

  • Have personal net worth of at least $500,000 CAD
  • Personal net worth have be accumulated legally
  • Have at least 3 years to experience in:
    • Farm Ownership
    • Farm Management
    • Practical Farm Experience
  • Give a proposal for a commercial Saskatchewan farming opportunity with plans to invest a minimum of $150,000 (CAD). In Saskatchewan, a qualified farming business must have a minimum of $10,000 CAD in annual revenue.
  • Score at least 55 points on the Farm Owner/Operator Category Intent Grid.

Farm Owners and Operators - Young Farmer Stream

  • Have personal net worth of at least $300,000 CAD
  • Personal net worth have be accumulated legally
  • Under age of 40 at time of the application
  • Have at least 3 years to experience in:
    • Farm Ownership
    • Farm Management
    • Practical Farm Experience
  • Give a proposal for a commercial Saskatchewan farming opportunity. In Saskatchewan, a qualified farming business must have a minimum of $10,000 CAD in annual revenue.
  • You or your spouse must have employment skills, based on education and experience, to supplement your farming income.
